  1. y =  -2x-2

    first graph your points.

    notice u travel down 8 and 4 to the right.

    rise over run = -8/4 or -2

    and ur x intercept is -2, as given by ur point (0,-2)

    so standard form =

    y= mx+b

    m is slope, b is y intercept.. so just plug em in


  2. First find the slope of the line -- the ratio between the difference of the y-values divided by the difference between corresponding x-values. In this case, the slope it (-8--2)/(4-0)=(-8+2)/4=-3/2. Now use the point-slope form to get:

    (y--2)=(-3/2)(x-0)=

    y+2=(-3/2)x

    Now just put the equation into whatever form you need to (e.g., solve for y, etc.).
