Assume complete dominance.

L=Long legs, l=short legs

1. Write genotype for individual with short legs.

2. Write possible genotypes for individuals with long legs

3. Cross 2 individuals that are heterozygous the leg length trait.

a. What is the genotype of each parent?

b. What is the phenotype of each parent ?

c. List all the possible gametes for each parent and the percentage of each?

d. Show Punnet square. Show all possible genotypes for the offspring.

What is the percentage (ratio) of each possible genotype?

What is the percentage (ratio) of each possible phenotype?

4. Is the ratio/percentage of each type of offspring obtained from the Punnet square what actually occurs in nature? Explain

  1. 1. ll

    2. Ll or LL

    3. Two heterozygous individuals have a 25% chance of producing an LL gamete, a 25% chance of ll and a 50% chance of Ll

    Punnet Square:         L   l

                               L   LL  Ll

                               l     Ll    ll

Both parents are Ll as a genotype and their phenotype is long legs.

Phenotype will be 75% tall and 25% short. I don't remember the ratios part exactly..

These are what occurs in nature because these are the type of gene combinations that make up our own DNA
