  1. Before it you get the chemical name of the active ingredient.  BP stands for British Pharmacopoeia which is an official list of substances used in medicines and indicates the purity of the ingredient.  w/w means weight for weight so that 0.5% w/w means that there is one gramme of active ingredient in every 200 grammes of ointment.

  2. benzoil peroxyde is .5% which means you have a slight pimple that you want to rid of right?

  3. British Pharmacopeia(Spelling?)  0.5% weight/weight

that is 5% in terms of weight

    Edit: Of course. 0.5%

  4. BP stands for British Pharmacopoeia.

w/w is an abbreviation for "by weight," used in chemistry and pharmacology to describe the concentration of a substance in a mixture or solution.

So BP 0.5 % w/w means it's a british medication that contains 0.5% of the 'active ingredient' by weight. In layman's terms.
