Writer's block?

I've got this crazy case of writer's block - Help! Here's my fanfic website so you can get a general idea of what I write;

I am nearing a scene where a woman has a baby and I KNOW what is going to happen... I'm just kind of bored and stuck. Like an invisible wall is keeping me from finishing. What to do?

  1. I've found that taking a break helps me a lot.  Stop writing for a few days, go do something fun, get outside, paint or draw to work your mind differently and then come back to your writing later.  You'll feel more refreshed and will be able to look at what you're writing with a fresh perspective.  It also helps to just brainstorm for a while.  Just write down words or phrases or complete sentences about the scene, don't worry about any of it making sense.  Take a break, come back to it and put it all together.

  2. Best thing to do is take a break... a long break.

    I am a musician (I write both, the lyrics and the music).  I get writer's block on both sides of that... that is the WORST feeling.  What I do when this happens is just pack it up... sometimes for the day.  It may be the next, or as much as a month, but after that well-needed break, the ideas flow much smoother.

    Best of luck!
