Hello--I am searching for an expert in 19th century-era steam trains/cog rail to assist with a VERY intriguing project/article. Specifically, I need someone to identify an object associated within the train realm. I would prefer someone with verifiable credentials or associations within this field, and someone willing to use their real name and those credentials within a published article. Thanks.

  1. I could maybe help you with the mechanical end of your topic - not so much with particular companies at particular locations. I'm a railroad engineer interested in railroad history, especially industrial and short line railroads. I have written two books myself concerning American history. You can E-mail me if you wish.

  2. I work a 1920 Baldwin 2-8-0 for the last 15 years I'm by no means a steam expert but have done extensive repairs to this steamer. If you cant find "expert help" i might be able to help you.

  3. You probably need to contact one of the cog railway museums or associations or magazines.

  4. For an interesting sidelight on cog / rack rail systems worked with new, yes that is new steam locos look at the DLM site.  Languages are German and English.

Since 1992 this company has delivered 8 new steam locomotives to the Brienz-Rothorn system, the Montreux - Glion - Rochers-de-Naye system and the Schneeberg- and Schafberg systems.

  5. Try going to http://www.trains.com and asking this question on their forums - chances are someone there will point you in the right direction.
