  1. Nope. SATs have specific writing centres set up. You have to register and do the SATs at an approved writing centre.

  2. Sats are not needed for your children's education unless you are following the national curriculum and want to test them.

They assess how well a school is progressing and help to grade kids for when they start high school.

I have one child who went through school, and two home schooled.  None did the sats.  I didn't see why they should be put under the pressure at such a young stage.

I did the 11 plus just before it was scrapped...failed it miserably.  Luckily it was scrapped..I went on to get an Hons in Science, and teach and lecture in Uni.

I really don't think you need them.  You can buy the papers yourself and test them at home, but the results gained from the official tests are not used ever except in deciding which school classes your child would be in if in secondary school.

  3. No, and honestly with the total mess that they are why would you want to?

  4. Not as such but you can download free SATS papers from Bright Minds and get your child to do them at home, under exam conditions.

To be honest there isn't a lot of point in taking them unless you just want to see how well they are doing.
