Question:

Writing a Blog and giving the source?

A friend of mine wrote an article in her blog about a current event but didn't list her source. I left a comment, slightly disagreeing with what she said, and just out of curiosity, i asked what the original sources were. She got very huffy and told me she resented me accusing her of writing a phony blog. I never said any such thing, but she won't believe that. This arguing on her blog has made a very unpleasant experience that i didnt intend for, and I will not comment any more on her page since she apparently cannot handle people disagreeing with her.

But my question to Bloggers out there is this: If you write something about a current event that is potentially controversial, would you list the original sources so your readers can formulate their own opinion about the matter? Was I wrong asking for sources?

  1. Ha! Excellent. Thank you for being courageous and trying to get your friend to act like the columnist that she's pretending to be.

People who write blogs are lazy people who want to be journalists but don't want to do the actual work that comes with it. I wish all of them could be called out for the c**p they put out there...and unfortunately, the government and major businesses have to take them seriously now, because blogging is so "hot".

They need to amend the libel and slander laws to include online speech.
