Question:

Writing a cover letter... ?

I am applying at a few places for my first job. I have already made a resume for them. I am going to make some cover letters, so that I can stand out from the crowd of applicants. I just have a question..

Who do I address it to.. if I don't know who the manager or hiring staff is?

(I can't call a couple of the places, as they are not open yet.. but have signs saying NOW HIRING!)

Help ?

  1. If you have no name, this is always safe:

    Dear Hiring Manager:

    Good luck!!!!!!! :)

  2. If you can call and find out who is heading interviews or running them, do so. It looks far better to address it to them specifically than to say "To Whom it May Concern." However, if you don't have an option, write that. It should capture whoever you're trying to reach.

And keep in mind, for your first job, you're doing the right thing having both a resume and cover letter. It will be noticed, so good job! :)
