A close friend from high schooll got into some trouble and is awaiting sentencing. His lawyer is trying to gather a few letters from people for the judge. I have stayed in contact with him throughout my military career and he has always been a great motivator and friend. I would like to help because I know how people can get caught up in things and their life spins out of control before they know it. I believe in him so what should I say in my letter that might be most beneficial to him? I have never done anything like this before. Thanks!!!

  2. I would just speak from the heart.  I don't know this guy so I can't tell you what to write.  I mean, if he ever did something for you, talk about it.  If you ever saw him be kind to a person who kindness wouldn't be expected for, write about it.  All that kind of stuff.

  3. Tell him to stop acting like a Jackass.

  4. Write from your heart. I believe it's called letter of character, or something like that. Also maybe talk to a lawyer.
