Writing an Essay About To Kill a Mockingbird / Catcher In The Rye...?

I need to write an essay comparing and contrasting the relationships between Holden and Phoebe Caulfield, and Scout and Jem from To Kill a Mockingbird. I've already written a paragraph about how Holden/Phoebe trust each other, and Scout/Jem don't, but now I need some new ideas. Can anyone help?

  1. Scout and Jem totally trust each other. Read the book more carefully - Scout idolizes Jem, and Jem totally protects Scout from anything he can - they have a period in the book where they are a little estranged because jem is growing up and Scout hasn't gotten to those developmental levels yet, but they do trust each other.

I haven't read catcher in the rye in a while so I can't really help you with the specifics of that book, I don't want to give you false information. But Scout and Jem do trust each other. Thought I had to mention that. Good luck on the essay - try searching a compare/contrast search on the two books, or even finding Coles Notes or Cliff Notes on the books, that might help you.
