Okay, so I totally forgot about this basic rule. So lets say your character is having a conversation like this.

"Hello Freddy." said Dan. "Hello Dan, nice weather we are having," said Freddy. "I agree. Very mild."

Would you write it on word like this:

"Hello Freddy." said Dan

"Hello Dan, nice weather we are having," said Freddy.

"I agree, it is very mild." said Dan.

I will give 10 pts for best answer

  1. This is how it should be punctuated this way.

    "Hello, Freddy," said Dan

"Hello, Dan.  Nice weather we are having," said Freddy.

"I agree, it is very mild," said Dan.

And if you turn the quote around and identify the speaker first, it would be

Dan said, "Nice weather we are having." Not the first word of a quote is always capitalized even if it is in the middle of the sentence.

  2. "Hello Dan, nice weather we're having, no?" "I agree, Freddy, it is quite mild and beautiful, during the Spring of the year."

  3. This is how you would write it.

"Hello Freddy.", said Dan.  "Hello Dan, nice weather we are having.", said Freddy.  "I agree. Very mild.", said Dan
