Writing lines in detention?

hi.... i was given a 2 hour after school detention (3.30- 5.30) last week for not wearing correct school uniform. The detention took place in a classroom on the maths floor and involved 'writing lines' for the whole 2hrs! The teacher who gave me the detention (mrs Evans) happened to be the one who held the detention. As i was the only one in the detention, it was soooo boring!

do you think writing lines is a good punishment? i hated it, because my hand hurt from writing too much and 2hrs is a long time to be writing the same line.

There culd have been a better way of doing it like revising for my exams or even homework. plus you hand aches from writing and you have to keep stopping to stretch out my fingers!
