I want to write on my jeans/skirt in a number of different colours and for it to stay after them being washed.

Are sharpies okay for this?

  1. sharpies eventually fade. i like using industrial extra permanent type sharpies. haha seriously. and it really works. but they will defintely last a couple of washes if you use regualr sharpies. good luckk! :D

  2. maybe  if you wash your clothes in a separate load then all of your other clothes then other wise they might get stained

it might be best if u wash it manually or veryy little

  3. I do not think you will get good results with sharpies unless you do it on white fabric.  It's not just a matter of fading.  The only color that will look decent will be black--the other colors will not be very vivid because they will show the denim fabric through whatever color you will use.  Some colors won't work at all.  (like yellow--it's just going to come out kind of greenish)  You can test it out on an inside patch of your jeans.  I would recommend fabric paint or opaque fabric markers--the colors will stay vivid on any color fabric.  You can usually get them in sets or individually and they are not that expensive.  If you have a Micheals store near you, they usually have 40% off coupons and they have a good selection of quality fabric paint and markers.

  4. Sharpies on fabric fade eventually, faster than you'd think. Maybe a pen specifically designed to write on fabric would work better

  5. maybe........it depends what type of fabric. if you wash it, it will probably fade away.

  6. yea, sharpies are fine, they stay, cuz they're permanent markers. just wash them alone the first time =)

  7. I am with HornGal8's answer....I would try fabric markers instead of sharpies/  You can get the fabric markers at any craft store.  Good Luck

  8. Crayola makes a 10 ct. Fabric Markers that Add brilliant designs to clothes and accessories! Crayola Fabric Markers let kids create permanent designs on fabric using 10 bright colors. They should work better than the sharpie markers. Good Luck and have a nice day.
