Can you write on money?

  1. Isn't that destruction of federal property. I asked my teacher that if I melt a penny, if that is illegal, and she said yeah because of DOFP.

  2. It depends how much you write on the money and often what you write with.

    If you only write a little bit with pencil or a ballpoint pen, most places will accept it.

    However, if you write a lot in a thick, dark ink like a sharpie, or if you graffiti the main guy in the center of the bill, a lot of stores won't accept it.

    So feel free to write on one-dollar bills, but skip decorating the $100 bills.
