Wrong rail ticket?

Can anyone tell me if i buy a return train ticket from a shop and get stopped by an inspector who says ive got the wrong ticket and issues a £20-00 on the spot fine can i appeal and will i have a criminal record. Thanks Regards MAC

  1. if you appeal and they decide you were wrong they can charge you up to £200, i'd say leave it at that - did you buy your ticket from a man or a machine, if it was a man maybe you should complain about him, they may give you back your money


  2. No, ignore them, and it's a civil matter, not criminal, so there is no criminal record.

  3. I am puzzled. Not so long ago you bought a rail ticket from point  A to point B by any reasonable route any restrictions were printed n the ticket. Now they seem to think they are airlines and make everything as complicated as possible so that they can send jobsworths around to bug-er the  rest of us about. of Course theyare on a poor quality paper so that they get damaged quickly so the jobsworth can issue a fine bringing in more revenue for the incompetant criminals who run the service

  4. You should still be able to appeal. There may be a time limit so you will need to act quick. Do you have a receipt from when you bought the ticket at the shop? That should assist you.
