I'm living with my cousins family as their nanny, and i was way overweight when i came here last year, but she's the same height (just under 5 ft) as me but nearly a size 1(which is what we both should be for our height/builds). i was a size 17, now I'm a 7/9, i lost 40 lb. not eating b/c i just get really embarrassed eating around anyone here, they are so d**n skinny aside from her husband, but i already feel weird eating in front of guys anyway! a yr. of this, its annoying, i just want to eat something already!! i do eat, just not very much at all, some days i know i barely eat 500, 600 cal. she has threatened to send me back home if i keep up the not eating thing, but it's just annoying and stupid, and I'm still fat enough that it doesn't matter if i skip meals anyway. plus, c'mon, she's telling the two yr old not to eat and I'm supposed to eat? how odd is that? no wonder i hide in my room and drink a ton of water and coffee. so, i guess my Q is, any advice on changing this?

  1. You need to seek some therapy.  Being embarrassed to eat in front of people is one of the classic signs of an eating disorder.  Just because you are overweight doesn't mean you can just not eat...you need nutrients from your food as well as energy.  At 500 calories a day, you aren't even taking in enough calories to keep your vital organs working...sooner or later things like your kidneys and pancreas start to shut down.  Please seek the help of a therapist and a nutritionist.  A nutritionist will help you plan a diet that will help you still lose weight and also get everything your body needs to be healthy.


  2. Don't look down so much about yourself your body is the body that was made for you, if your hungry eat, if your not then don't eat, but it does sound like you have a eating disorder and even though you are losing weight right now, it will catch up to you in the long run, you could have problems with your intestines, your liver, your kidneys, your stomach, with ulcers completely stopping eating is not healthy, if you cut down that is the better way to go, good luck
