Help! The wrong tranny type of oil was added now the transmition won't switch to any gear!

I called a mechanic and he said the transmition might be ruined.

He said To add a bottle of Trans X fluid and it should work fine for 4-5 days, but if it does not work then the transmition has internal problems :(

Can anyone verify this, i have no mechanical experience and the guy only spoke spanish who told me this, and MY spanish isn't that great. Im afraid i might of misunderstood.

HELP ! thanks :)

  1. Not good! Drain it, replace the filter, refill with correct fluid, pray to the God of your choice...

  2. your best hope is to flush the trans change the filter and hope for the best

  3. DIY transmission flush method  - replaces all the fluid , I've done this many times:

there will be two hoses going from your transmission to the radiator  remove either one & point it into a bucket. put a peice of hose on the fitting you took the hose off of & point it into the bucket too - you don't know which one will spew fluid, doesn't matter.  start engine, run about one minute, until fluid quits spraying. shut off engine, add  3 quarts fluid, repeat.   after 10 -12 quarts, the fluid coming out will abruptly look clean- you're done. this will replace all the fluid, torque converter and all. The trans contains it's own pump. It's plenty oily enough inside, even when fluid quits spraying,  as long as you shut it off soon, for refill

I never recomend replacing  trans filters anymore - the only time I've seen one with stuff in it, the trans was shot anyway. No sense opening up the pan to see.
