Has anyone practiced their way into learning it? Not learning about it, but creating your own wry/dry humor on the spot improvising or for a script? How did you go about doing so?

  1. This is one of those few skills that come naturally. But like anything I imagine you could learn it with practice. I wouldn't know where to begin learning other than immersing yourself in it, I was born into a very quick witted dry humor household.

  2. summer is right, it's really an intuitive natural thing, but there's nothing from stopping you from immersing yourself in witty/dry humour.

Try reading books that express that kind of humour, read the auto/biographies of people you find witty/dry/wry (whatever term you prefer). Also many brittish tv programs are much more likely to show this form of intellectual humour.

Personally I love Stephen Fry, and his television work is incredible. Look for the old Stephen Fry & Hugh  Laurie comedy series, also A series called absolute power, and his quiz show QI. Stephen himself does a wonderful podcast.
