Wtf is NEEBRA?

A friend of mine told me to go online n check out about another planet that is red called NEEBRA! Its supposdly gunna end the world 2012 n is being kept secret from us. I dnt belive any of this just interested cos when i did google it i cant find anything about it. Apparently another twist to the tale is that the egyptians have left messages in the pyramids about this? Any one got any links?

It is all a hoax. There is this guy saying all this stuff just to sell his book.

it's nibiru... and i'd say the chances of that one happening are about the same as a pea sized meteorite making it through our atmosphere and nailing you dead square in the middle of the forehead.

That's a new one.  Usually people are going on about Nibiru.  But don't worry, neither of them exist.  No, the Egyptians didn't know something we don't know.  We've got big telescopes that would see something like this coming years away, and we haven't.  There's nothing there.  Not to mention the fact that stars and planets just don't show up careening through systems - they are on stable galactic orbits.

nice  stable nearly circular orbits.  (for a class assignment, you sometimes can substitute Venus' orbit with a circle, its THAT close!)

does this Solar System look like some rogue planet/star/whatever has been slamming through it every 3500 years?  Wouldn't you think the orbits would show more eccentricity?

Sorry, your friend is mixing many things up.

Nebra (without the double e) is a small village in Germany, the location where they discovered the Nebra sky disk in a farm plot.

It is one of the oldest astronomical artifacts.

What your friend instead means is the lie about Niburu, an fictional planet 5 times larger as Earth and a few hundred times more heavy, which is rumored to come so close to Earth every 3600 years, that it causes a pole reversal. Which is, completely contrary to any evidence you can find.

It is also not kept secret, it just does not exist. According to the predictions of this crackpot science, the planet would now be 15 AU away, somewhere between Saturn and Uranus in distance.

You can easily see the rings of Saturn with any better amateur telescope. You can even see Uranus as bright large spot in the telescope. Something larger and closer to Uranus would be even better visible. because of it's predicted orbital parameters, it would also move very fast, so when you use the typical camera settings for asteroid scans (which many people do in all directions), you would see it as long fat bright line in the photograph. So, how can be kept secret from you?

The Egyptians also left no messages about this in their pyramids. They had been happy with the five planets they knew.

Planet X / black hole / brown dwarf / wandering planet - No.  It was predicted for 2003 by a loony woman who claimed telepathic contact with aliens.  No sign of it then and still no sign of it.  If this big nasty exists it must be quite close by now and visible with a fairly ordinary astronomical telescope.  

The assumption that it can only be seen from the southern hemisphere and therefore astronomers don’t see it is nonsense, there are many large optical and some radio astronomical telescopes in Chile and Australia.

Nibiru was originally a separate scare and depends on some faked-up scholarship by a fraud called Z. Sitchin.  He claimed to be able to read cuneiform, a script used by Assyrians, Babylonians and Sumerians among others, but not the old Egyptians.  He could not read it but others can.  He claimed that some old Babylonian texts talked of a planet with a 3600 year orbit that passed close to Earth.  This planet was inhabited by aliens who landed on Earth to enslave people into producing gold for them.

In fact Nibiru is an old Mesopotamian name for the planet Jupiter, which will be staying right in its accustomed orbit, thank you very much.  Sitchin disagreed with the "Planet X" loony.  

I had not heard of this drivel being predicted by the builders of the pyramids.  The great pyramid has almost nothing written inside it except graffiti, ancient and modern.  In ancient Egyptian writing there are things like "The vigorous gang" and "How drunk is the King today?"  

This is all fake scholarship, pseudo-science, lies, superstition and abject delusion.
