  1. Hi,

Although it's not going to make or break the whole thing - it IS possible to get better rankings with eBay search. As the BEST MATCH has been default search for a good while, you can optimize your listings' title's for the best rankings. And it doesn't matter if you're on the 6th or last day of your listings - it doesn't make any difference at all (as far as the best match is concerned).

So - go to the first link below and enter a title of your eBay item.

Let's say it is - 'New Dolce Cabana Perfume'.

Then hit 'Submit' button and see what's coming up.

Popularity will show you the keywords people may possible search similar items on eBay.

Popularity is demand and availability is supply. So you may want to optimize your listings' titles for the keywords with biggest demand and smallest supply (simple economy, isn't it? :-)

Under 'BayEstimate' you'll see how well your current title is optimized for the corresponding keyword.

What you have to do next is - click on the keyword you want to optimize your title for. You'll see a table called 'Keywords buyers like/dislike when searching for...' and there'll be all the phrases in the order of relevance to include in the title. So create the title using these keywords (and including your main keyword, of course), write it in the 'Modified Item Title' box and hit 'Submit'.

Make sure the search query is the keyword you want to optimize your title for. The bigger is the green circle then in the keywords table next to desirable keyword, the better your title is going to perform in eBay search.

In the table right under the 'Submit' button you'll see how relevant is each word in the title (it's indicated by the size of green circles).

So in short this is how you can realistically improve your eBay listings (because Best Match now is the default eBay search algorithm and very few buyers know how to change the search for another option).

Hope this will help you a little bit!

    Regards,

    Robby

  2. Most of the time the items are listed by "ending soonest" therefore, if you just listed it, it's not ending anytime soon.

    DUH.

If the search is done by "recently listed" you'll be closer to the front.

    DUH.

If the search is done by "price+shipping highest first (or lowest first)" you'd be filtered by your price+shipping.

    DUH.

If the search is done by "best match" then it's filtered by price, ending time, sellers rating, and keyword.

    DUH.

You should always buy on eBay before you sell. Therefore you can see how things work before you make a fool of yourself.

You can't "bump it up" until it meets search criteria to move it forward (see above). You set a reserve before you list the item. Also, you can end the auction at anytime.

  3. Items show up in the eBay search listings, by default, in the order they expire. So, if you set up a 7-day auction term, there's going to be 6-days of listings in front of you in the search results.

The only way you can move it up is to purchase "Featured" status when you list the item, but that can be very expensive.

As to a reserve price, that has to be set when you originally list an item.
