Wtf is wrong with Windows Movie Maker?

This is a really dumb problem.

I know some other people have had it and it seems to be random on if/when it fixes itself.

WMM will give an codec not found error and that it couldn't download it etc.

I've tried the K-Lite and several other codec packs but WMM just does the same thing every time I try to import any video (well, avi's, wmv's and mpg's -- pics work lol). I had to reinstall my XP and I hoped that this would be one of the things that would be fixed -- lol not.

It does the same thing. On a fresh installation. WTF.

Am I missing a specific Windows Update?

yo man, i found out that the check box for "auto download codecs" is messed, all you have to do is get another converter for that format... thats what i did... its messed up........... ummmm lets see when that happen to me i screamed at my monitor, kicked the tower and threw my mouse... THEN i got another converter for the video and it worked... :)
