She had problems with her left knee, but she underwent a successful operation in December 2006 and missed all of 2007. She expects to return to the tour in 2008.

She has stated that she still has things she would like to accomplish before retiring, including playing the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Mary Pierce does plan to return to the WTA Tour soon, according to her father Jim Pierce.

He said in a recent interview that Mary has received permission from her doctors to begin practicing.

Also according to her father, she plans to make it a family-affair by using Jim and her brother David as her coaches.

I dont think she will return, having been injured too much, too long of a time, and she has put much time into her journalism career as well. Mary "Fierce" Pierce will be missed for sure, by me anyway.
