Wu Penggen and Xu Linyin seized the gold-medal at AVC Beach Volleyball Championship 2010
The extreme beach volleyball action at the AVC Beach Volleyball Championship, Haikou, China recently revealed the final results. The tournament reached its final stage on Sunday, 24th October, 2010. Out of 26 men’s teams from the Asian region,
two best duos survived up till the final match. The brilliant Wu Penggen and Xu Linyin of China qualified for the final match by beating their country-mates Gao Peng and Li Jian in the semi-final. Quite similarly, Andy Ardiansyah and Koko Prasetyo Darkuncoro
of Indonesia clawed their way to the final combat by dismissing Alexey/Alexandr of Kazakhstan.
The final match of the AVC Beach Volleyball Championship was played at Holiday Beach in Haikou, China. The home team enjoyed the top form and saved country’s reputation by achieving the highest spot in the championship. The pair of Wu and Xu demonstrated
great effort throughout the championship and always finished on the winners’ side. On the other hand, Andy and Koko from Indonesia appeared as one of the stronger teams of the tournament. They came across tough rivals but didn’t lose momentum. The extra-ordinary
performance enabled them to play the final of AVC Beach Volleyball Championship.
China vs. Indonesia 2-0 (21-18, 21-16)
The home-side duo opened the first set with strong impression. They produced good serves and hit commanding shots. They started out really well and tried to put pressure on the competitor side. Somehow, it was no easy job to dismantle the power of Indonesian
players who were all up for the challenge. They counter-attacked the Chinese side and showed an impressive play. The fans moved in back and forth in their seats while watching the bruising encounter.
Both sides added points in their score at regular intervals. Andy and Koko seemed determined to take lead but Wu/Xu were united to stay in their way. After the second technical timeout, China dynamic duo got the lead and attacked with more ferocity. They
quickly scored three points in a row and secured first set by posting 21-18.
The second set of the game also came successful for Wu/Xu. The earlier victory filled them with a new spirit to win the final match. Nonetheless, the Indonesian pair struggled to save the match by any chance. They hit the ball from different angles but Wu/Xu
were in unique receiving positions. They blocked the heavy spikes and returned the ball in opponents’ court. They performed in a superb way and took the game away from Indonesia. Ultimately, Indonesia had to give way to China’s victory as they claimed the
second set by 21-16. China won the final match of the AVC Beach Volleyball Championship 2010.
China’s Gao Peng/Li Jian played the third-place match against Alexey/Alexandr of Kazakhstan. The home duo proved to be better side and won the bronze medal match.
