wut's the difference between 'townhouse' and 'unit'?

regarding to size, garden size etc?

  1. Usually a townhouse is 2 or 3 stories, but attached to the other townhouses, so while you have a few levels, there are common walls.  Usually quite a small yard - sometimes they're fairly big though.

    In a unit the living area is all on 1 floor - so you're sharing common walls, plus there will be people above and below you.  Often unit complexes have a common garden, but sometimes ground floor units may have their own outdoor space - depends on the size of the complex.
