I ve got to write an essay on Wuthering Heights By Emily Bronte. The essay question is:

"write a critical response to your text ( at least 400 words). Write about the themes, ideas and attitudes expresses and how the writer uses language to express these. you should refer to key sections of the texts in your response."

The main theme i want to write about is love as that is my view is the main theme. if any one could help me to explain the theme of love and any quotes which show love ( especially between Heathcliff and Catherine) , and any other helpful tips or suggestions I'd be very grateful. And of course i would award 10 points to the best answer.

Thanks in advance

Siobhan

  1. Do I get the grade for this?

    Do your own homework.

Or, if you would rather, you can take a failing grade.  Nobody is forcing you to do it.

  2. How fabulous that you get to write about such an amazing book! There's just too much to say in a forum like this though. I've included a link to the Spark Notes website. It has a complete breakdown of the novel, including themes, characters, key quotations explained, etc., etc. It should give you loads of ideas. Just navigate through the simple to use site for everything you need. Good luck!

  3. You might discuss the darker side of Heathcliff and Cathy's love for each other. It certainly was unconventional. There was a lot of pain and hatred and emotional violence between them, which should make their love much more interesting to write about, I would think.
