Wvo (watse vegetable oil) in oil burning furnace?

has anyone used wvo in their oil burning furnace does it work is there any risk involved?

  1. You can do it.  All you need is an adequate supply of the oil, at an acceptable price.  Good luck.


  2. If it a simple gravity flow heater, it will probably work fine. If it is a pressurized fuel boiler it probably will not work well. Many old sailboats hat had diesel aux. engines use gravity feed diesel heaters and they work fine. It will be a little harder to get it lit, but once burning should be fine.

  3. It's not going to atomize properly unless it's pre-heated.

  4. Most will clog up the unit so u need to include about 40% regular diesel.

  5. If you value your family, home and safety, don't experiment with this indoors.

    Consider this an experiment for outside your living space. The safest approach is a waste oil boiler outside and a heat coil in your ductwork.
