The Hawker Hurricane won the Battle Of Britain, The Supermarine Spitfire helped.

The Hurricane was more stable gun platform than the Spitfire although not as nippy. Needless to say we would'nt have been victorious withour either of these two magnificent aircraft, their pilots, the ground crews and all the other people  that contributed.

This was indeed our finest hour.

The Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire keep two Hurricanes, five Spitfires (soon to be six), a Lancaster Bomber and a Douglas Dakota flying as a tribute to airmen and all the other RAF personel of WWII. Well worth a visit.

The Hurricane. It's job was to shoot down the bombers, the Spitfire was more manoeuvrable, so it's job was to go after the fighter cover, so shot down less. There were more bombers than fighters.

Undoubtably the Hurricane.The were available in greater numbers, equipped morew squadrons ( at this time ), and any battle damage was easier to repair due to it's style of construction.
