Wyn Min Tiffany wins Girls 50m freestyle heats – 53rd MILO National Schools Swimming Championships
Wyn Min Tiffany Koh won the qualification round of 50m freestyle in the Girls 16-19 Year Olds category at the 53rd MILO National Schools Swimming Championships in Singapore on April 25.
Koh demonstrated her exhausting efforts in the shortest freestyle discipline as she qualified into the playoff as top contender for gold medal.
With her scintillating efforts in the preliminary rounds, she succeeded in out-touching her strongest challenger for the top finish in the event by submitting a time of 28.40 seconds.
Her notable effort remained 0.09 seconds faster from her closest swimmer, Kay Lynn Teo of RI, who made her way into the playoff as second best swimmer by reporting a time of 28.49 seconds.
Teo remained almost half a second faster from Sarah Duan Dahlberg of ACJC, who proved her eligibility for third position of the discipline by clocking a time of 29.05 seconds.
Fourth best qualifying position of the discipline was secured by Dahlberg’s teammate, Xiang Fei Melisa Tay, who remained 0.23 seconds behind and emerged on the finishing end with an effort of 29.28 seconds.
Tay was chased by Meriah de Vierno Ida of RI, who finished her swim in fifth best place by clocking a time of 29.34 seconds.
Subsequently, Kay Lynn Teo of RI showered her expertise in the Girls 100m freestyle. The 16-year-old Teo remained prominently faster from her following swimmer as she entered the final round with the timing of 1 minute and 01.31 seconds.
Teo remained almost full body length faster from Koh, who snared the second best qualifying position of the event by reporting a time of 1 minute and 02.59 seconds.
Koh was trailed by Ida, who elevated her pace in the 100m discipline and occupied third qualifying position of the event with an effort of 1 minute and 06.60 seconds.
Similarly, Tay remained nearly two body lengths apart and hit the wall for fourth position with the timing of 1 minute and 08.18 seconds.
In addition, these participants will face each other in the playoffs of their respective events while the session ended after the event.
