Wyndham donates $1 million to the First Tee
Wyndham Worldwide, the company that sponsors the Wyndham Championship will be following the footstep of numerous other multinational companies and donate a million dollars to the charity, The First Tee.
Wyndham Worldwide is a multinational firm that deals in the hotels and lodging all over the globe. They have their own chain of hotels that run throughout the world.
On Tuesday, they announced that they will be donating $1 million to The First Tee, $600,000 will go to the national The First Tee organization and $400,000 will be profiting The First Tee of the Triad.
The First Tee is a charitable organisation which helps young children build up their character and values. The organisation promotes healthy choices through the game of golf.
The charity is supported by numerous LPGA and PGA tournaments and they run their educational programs in schools and military installations.
Since 1997, the organisation has reached over 4.7 million children throughout America. It was first launched by the World Golf Foundation.
Its basic aim was to promote the game of golf but since then its objectives have transformed into more charitable work.
Seth Lomison, is a 15-year-old kid who took part in the Pro-Am on Tuesday. His life has been greatly influenced by the first tee. Seth used to be a pretty rough person but after the interaction with the First Tee his life a changed 360 Degrees.
"I was putting other people down," Seth said. "I was just a kind of downer on life. But after First Tee, I started trying to find the better in everything."
Stephen P. Holmes, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Wyndham Worldwide said that the donation will be made to the organisation over the course of next five years. He was extremely delighted after striking this deal with The First Tee.
“We are thrilled to be able to take our partnership with The First Tee to a broader level, and help expand its reach to children across the United States and beyond,” said Holmes.
“As one of the core values of Wyndham Worldwide, we aim to improve the lives of our customers and support our communities, best reflected by our Wishes by Wyndham charitable foundation and through such partnerships as we have with The First Tee”.
The First Tee has welcomed this offer from the Wyndham Worldwide as they believe that more funds will not only help them raise their level of education but it will also facilitate in reaching a far audience.
“The First Tee is honoured to have Wyndham Worldwide become a Trustee of The First Tee,” said Barrow, the Chief Executive of First Tee.
