  1. Wyoming - Cowboy country.

Wyoming was once described to me like this.  When your dog runs away from home in Wyoming, you'll be watching him go for three days.

Wyoming is a big country with a big sky.

In the video clip below, you can see [briefly] a part of Wyoming with one of the mighty Union Pacific Railroad Company Big-Boy locomotives of yesteryear.

. . . .Wyoming. . . .never been there.  Heard about it since I was a boy here in UK in the 1940s.  Wyoming is USA in the Cowyboy Movies.

    Live the dream.

  2. Yeee haw!  No, really.  I live in Wyoming, and have for most of my life.  I live in central Wyoming, in Lander.

I have lived in several places in Wyoming, and can tell you that in some respects it IS like the movies: the raw beauty - the stark mountains in the far west, the rolling plains in the east, and vast miles and miles and miles and miles and miles and miles of just sagebrush and highway.

I married my high school sweetheart, my soulmate, and found him here in ol' Wyomin'.  But please don't think that everyone who lives here is a cowboy.  There are good old ranchers and farmers who work the land, and have paid their dues with lots of hard, dirty, work who have lived through years of poverty to get where they are today.  Then there are yuppy-cowboys who think that putting on a hat makes you a cowboy. Nope.  Dont think so.  I fit into neither of these roles; in fact, I consider my self a "city girl."

Wyoming is a great place to raise a family - when you pick a town like Lander to live in that has great opportunities like diversity, culture, and a small-town feel all at the same time.  Cheyenne and Casper are filled with a lot of different kind of folk.  Jackson Hole is mainly Billionaires, Cody is filled with the millionaires that were chased out of Jackson.  There are lots of tiny towns with less than 10 people in them.  More towns that are 100-500 in population that are very diverse, some that the mayor is the postmaster, reverend, and gravedigger.  Others have gotten very trendy for the tourists and have lost their hometown appeal to locals.

Along I-80 (the southern most part of the state), you will find Cheyenne, Laramie, Rawlins, Rock Springs, and Evanston, almost exactly 100 miles apart.

I do like it here, and we plan to raise our son here until he graduates from high school.  But the world is a huge place, and we want to see it.

So, in conclusion, Wyoming is a great place to live, visit, and stay if you find a place your heart can call home.
