I am trying out for the varsity team for cross country and i was wondering if they make cuts for them? I did freshman cross country and they took everyone. But ther is no JV so 10th, 11th, and 12th graders try out for varsity but not many people sign up because they dont like to run. So what do you think?

  1. Typically, everyone makes cross country. but this is by where i live, so it may be different.

and just because u make the team doesn't mean you'll race, but don't worry be confident in yourself

  2. in my school, the top seven girls/top seven guys make up the varsity. but we also have JV at my school.

i would assume, if there was no JV, then they wouldn't make cuts....they'd either rotate, having the best runners in the meets that count the most, or have all of you run at once.

    i tried :) sorry if this doesn't help :)

  3. It depends on the schools. Some schools (like mine, sometimes) will rotate the top guys in different meets to make sure they get fair competition time. Regardless, you should still sign up if you like to run and you shouldn't if you don't.

  4. at my school pretty much everyone who just shows up to practice a certain amount of times makes the team. and then our first scrimmage is our tryouts and that determines our top 7. and the next 7 are jv and the rest are the "c" team. thats weird that your school only has a varsity and freshman...

they probably do make cuts cuz theres most likely more than 7 people that try out.

you should try out, you dont have nothin to lose and lots to gain! good luck
