OK, I really wanna audition for X-Factor 2009. (Too late for 2008). Parents said it's okay.

Could someone PLEASE tell me exactly what to do to set myself up to audition? Like details, what to do, where to go, etc...? I know these things have some rather annoying processes sometimes. OR, better, could someone give me a direct link/website? I live in Cambridge, UK, if that helps.

Thanks:)

  1. Why on earth would you want to? We all know it's fake now.

You don't really expect Simon Cowell to sit through 5 million people trying to sing do you? He has far better things to do.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but unless you have a tragic, TV-friendly life story, or you're REALLY bad at singing to the point where it's funny, you're not going to be put on TV.

Remember how they always manage to find the people at the beginning of X-Factor, who go on to the final? "Will the story be different for 32 year old Andy, a binman from London....."And the winner is... Andy!"" Funny how they managed to find him, in a room of about 1000 people.

Remember, Simon Cowell is very, very, very rich. And he's rich because he spends a small amount of money getting about 10 people  that he KNOWS personally into the final, while all over the UK, billions upon billions of poor gullible people phone in, with the money going into his pockets, thinking they can actually tell Simon Cowell who should win.

He's not an idiot, but it seems the majority of England are.

So yeah, unless you've got a grabbing sob-story, or you're gonna make brilliant TV, don't waste your time.

You're far more likely to become a successful singer if you take the grown-up, professional route. Start singing in clubs and bars across the country (I live in Oxford, so I know there are hundreds around Cambridge that take new singers) and get yourself a cheap demo CD made. Send it to promoters and radio stations, and keep working, until your throat bleeds from singing. If you have enough talent to actually make it, you'll make it.

Also remember that the people who WIN X-Factor aren't actually talented singers. Leona Lewis doesn't sing on her own CD, the record company have a hired voice to do that for her, and her live shows, just like Miley thingy and Mariah Carey et al, are lip-synched, because these days people want to hear exactly what was on the CD they spend £15 on. No room for mistakes, so lip-synching is the only safe way out.

The modern music industry is a hive of lies, acting and false dreams. Take the real route, put the work in, become a well known local singer, and you'll eventually become somebody who won't have 15 minutes of Chart-Topping fame, but years and years of professional studio work and if you REALLY have the talent, you'll become a star.

  2. You need to wait until the 2009 audition lines open - Usually 1/2 way through the current series.

You ring up and they will send you details on the time and place of your audition.
