X Games bringing the top action sports athletes to Barcelona next month
The third stop in the X Games global tour, X Games Foz do Iguaçu, may have concluded, but the fans of action sports will not have to wait for too long to have another dose of the thrilling action, as ESPN is all set to bring the world’s top extreme sports
athletes to Spain for X Games Barcelona next month.
The Spanish version of the action sports mega-event is expected to attract the most exciting and fearless skaters and riders from across the globe to put their skills on display in front of the Spanish crowd.
ESPN has already sent out the invitations to the athletes, 200 of whom have already committed to the event and therefore set the stage for an entertaining match-up.
X Games Barcelona will differ from the previous editions of the ESPN-hosted action sports mega-event as for the first time ever, women skateboarders will be seen in action in the Skateboard Park competition, along with the first-ever Real Women Bracket,
which will include eight females from different disciplines, namely snowboarding, skateboarding, skiing and surfing.
The addition of these two events to the X Games should, however, not let one forget about the mainstay events such as Skateboard Big Air, Skateboard Park, Skateboard Vert, BMX Vert, BMX Street, Moto X Freestyle, Moto X Speed & Style and Enduro X.
There will, of course, be many other events that will be featured in the upcoming edition of X Games.
For those who enjoyed the first instalment of Street League Skateboarding at X Games, there is good news as the second instalment of the event has been confirmed and the place to catch it will be none other than Barcelona.
As for the athletes that will be putting their foot on the Spanish soil to stun the crowd with their mesmerising performances, the list is long and impressive.
Travis Pastrana, Nate Adams, Bob Burnquist and Jamie Bestwick are just some of the renowned action sports stars that have been confirmed for the upcoming mega-event.
As always, plenty of new faces will be seen in action in Barcelona as well. Nora Vasconcellos and Lizzie Armanto will be competing in the debut Women’s Skateboard Park event, while Alain Goikoetxea will be riding with the big boys in Men’s Skateboard Park.
There are a lot more X Games rookies in X Games Barcelona.
X Games Barcelona will run from May 16-19.
