I want to read the older issues of X-men. Including Uncanny and the adjectiveless x-men. I have found essential x-men to be good for reading the Uncanny X-men. However i have not found any collections for the other series the adjectivless x-men. I found a collection of when it was called the New X-Men, but nothing before or after when it was just called X-Men. Can you point me in the right direction for finding the collections i am looking for??

  1. The X-Men series that began in 1991 has never been collected in TPB form in its entirety.  A few of the issues have been collected into various TPB series (mainly crossover story arcs).

This is just a guess but I assume the series hasn't been collected in TPB form around that time because of how common most of the issues are and how little demand there is for them.  The issues that aren't plentiful on the market weren't very well written and what not unlike Grant Morrison's "New X-Men" run.  Anyways, if there is not much demand for TPBs for that series, then Marvel could actually lose money just by publishing them.  If they feel that is the case then they probably aren't going to make the TPBs until there actually is a demand.  I would actually recommend looking for them on Ebay.  I've seen large collections of X-Men Vol. 2 sell for well under 50 cents an issue just because there isn't much demand for them.

Wikipedia has a list of which issues have been collected in TPB form and I checked it against the TPBs listed on mycomicshop.com to make sure that it is correct:
