How much physics and chemistry do you actually need to know or be able to do to be an x ray tech?

  1. Actually, in order to get an Associate's Degree you have to learn a little physics.  I don't remember having to learn any chemistry though.  We had 2 physics classes, and you pretty much have to learn about the circuitry behind the x-ray machine.  Dealing with transformers, generators, etc.  Its not that difficult to understand, all you have to do is study :)


  2. Surprisingly little.

    In the states you can get the job (possibly) with only on the job training, although most folks get some post-secondary training.

    Typically either an associates degree or a professional certificate (less credits than an associates) in the field.

    Look up the program at your local 2-yr or 4yr college, get a catalog or check the course requirements online. Usually it is only 1 semester of Phy/Chem at most.
