  1. I went to a Callaway performance center to get fit a few weeks back. Anyway I was getting fit for fairway woods and it was either between the x-fairway wood, or the FT.

Between the two, I preferred the x-fairway much more. It felt much more lively and was much easier to hit off of the fairway.

The FT Fairway wood to me felt very dead, and had a really really muted sound IMO. I found it a little harder to hit off the fairway too because of its higher face profile.

One good thing about the FT is that it is much easier to change shafts compared to the x-fairway if you ever wanted re-shaft. This is because of it's traditional hosel where the x-fairway has a patented Callaway hosel that is a little harder to work with to re-shaft.

So I ended up getting a 15* X-Tour fairway and an 18* X-Fairway. Both of the clubs have Aldila VS Proto 80S shafts and I couldn't be happier. Great off the tee (LONG!), good off the fairway, and great out of the rough.

Best thing to do would be to ask for demos at a golf store, and try them out on your local course or AT LEAST in the store. I recommend getting fit for them as well!

    Good luck!
