Which career is the best to go through. I realize that you have to go through a radiology program before you go into MRI's but which is a more stress free position, and easier to be involved in.

  1. This is almost a loaded question because it depends on what you would like to do more.  Obviously from an income based standpoint MRI makes more.  The difference in the job is the types of patients you will see and your work hours. Most MRI centers or dept in hospitals are scheduled patients only due to time contraints on exams.  Some MRI's can take a couple of hours.  Radiography is a bit more fast paced, depending on where you work of course. That all depends on what you want to be experienced with as well. Do you like the trauma setting? Then yourll get more of that being a radiographer.  As you have stated you would have to get your RT first before going to MR school. I hope this helps.

  2. MRI is more specialized and you'd only be doing one modality.  Whereas if you are a radiology tech you may switch from various types of radiologic procedures.
