  1. X^2 -8X=16

    X^2-8X-16=0

    (X-4)(X-4)=0

    x=4 X=4

    ARE YOU SURE IT IS POSITVE 16 AND NOT NEGATIVE 16 LET ME KNOW

  2. You'll have to use the quadratic formula for this one. Do you know what that is?

  3. first you want to subract 16 to get the right side to equal zero, then you have x^2-8x-16, to factor, find 2 numbers that add to get the middle number (-8) and times to get the right number (-16), then set them next to x, so you get (x-4) and (x-4), then set those equal to zero- x-4=0, and you get x=4 and x=4  :)

  4. x^2-8x+16=0

    (x-4)(x-4)

    x=4

  5. x^2 - 8x - 16 = 0

    (x-4)^2 = 0

  6. x^2 -8x -16 = 0

    (x-4)(x+4)

    x= 4

  7. you cant factor it. because if you take the 16 to the other side it becomes negative. all these other bozos have been saying then you could just take (x -4)(x-4) and have everyone be merry. However, when you FOIL this out you get a positive 16 instead of a negative.

    others said that (x- 4)(x+ 4) would work too, but au contrair(or however  you spell that... ) that FOILed out gives you nothing in the middle!

    One of you said that you could just divide by 8 and, again, be merry, but you cannot just choose which terms you want to divide by, you must divide by all terms in the problem. so, whoever you are, your wrong.

    you have to use the quadratic formula, as another already stated. it is {-b +/- /(b^2- 4ac) } / 2a

    whoever was first to answer was very wrong.

  8. the first guy got it

  9. thanks for saying please but you should really just ask how to do it and give that as an example

  10. (x-4)(x-4)

    x= 4

  11. x^2-8x=16

    divide 8 to 8x and 16

    you now have

    x^2-x=2

    x=2

    MY ANSWER IS RIGHT!

    THE FIRST GUY PUT -16! HE MADE A MISTAKE!
