XBOX 360 3 rings of fire and death fix?

Question

Please tell me if there is a free guide as to how i can fix the 3 rings of death on my x box 360? I first had a disk tray problem so i took it all apart to inspect as per good video on youtube.com. I put it all back together after finding nothing then boom. 3 rings. please help :( :( :(

DON'T DO THE TOWEL FIX!!!!!!!!!

The Failure is due to gel insulator.  The towel fix heats your Xbox up so much that it softens the gel and when it cools again it temporarily fixes the problem.  The extra heat could kill other components in your console.

There is a way to fix it yourself, by removing this gel and replacing it with normal rubbers (pencil erasers) but you need to get the dimensions of the rubber just right.  There is a guide out there somewhere, sorry I cant be more specific.  I just had to warn you about the towel thing.

Ok heres what to do, plug it in and wrap it up in towels, blankets, or what ever and turn it on, make sure it is getting hot and leave it for a while, if it is fixable with the chip reset then this will work. It should shutdown or reset when it overheats so you will know when to try it.

you took it apart and now your warranty is screwed on the red lights. I would look on google for the guide. They are out there. if all else and you put it together right I would request a three red light recall  with Microsoft and maybe they wont notice you were messing with it. The worst they can do is send it back to you. The guy that said wrap the system up and leave running for 2 hours is a moron cause you will have a fire probally or you will burn the motherboard so bad that you might as well go out and buy a new unit off ebay. I personally think you should just try to send it back under warranty and let them fix it. Good luck man. I am going throught the red light thing right now also.

The guides will promise the Earth and then tell you to wrap a towel round it. That will work for a day and then you'll blow up the capacitors!

You could buy an 'x-clamp fix kit' off me for £4 + p&p. I sell them on Ebay. It's simply a replacement for the x-clamps with the right sized bolts, washers and a sachet of thermal paste to replace the awful MS thermal pads + my repair guide is v good with lots of pics and is really easy to follow.

It is a permanent fix and doesn't require drilling. The kits that come with nylon washers will work for 3 weeks and then the nylon expands and gives you the RROD again. My kits come with metal washers that don't expand. 1300+ people have fixed their xboxes with my kits.
