Question:

XBOX (not 360) Question?

I purchased the XBOX (not XBOX 360), the month it released in stores, which I believe was 2001...So its pretty old. The console has a hard time reading games, and it says it is dirty or damaged. Yeah, it has some scratches on it, but I don't think I have 5 games that can't play anymore--I'm not that careless. Do you think it has a hard time reading them because the XBOX is just so old? Do you think inside the system, there is a lot of dust? What do you think is wrong?

it cost $9 and it works great.

  4. Xbox is the same as a DVD the eye that reads the game gets old and my have to be replaced. But most of the time it's cheaper to get a whole new system. As for being dirty yes. Dirt does get in there you would need the canned air and to remove the case to clean it the right way. Try that first. If that doesn't work it may be time to upgrade.

  6. I've heard that of the first batch of the X box that came out, quite a few were faulty. Personally, I'm surprised it's lasted you that long and speaks well of how you take care of your things.

I would personally go with the theory that it's because it's so old. My cousin bought his x box a couple of years ago and it won't play Halo 2. On the other hand, my husband just bought a reburbished one, and it plays the same game just fine.

If it's really that important to you, you might want to take it in to be looked at. They might just do some cleaning or something and it could solve the problem.
