Ok...enough is enough...approve this merger already! It took the government 1 meeting to approve the Exxon and Mobil merger and XM/SIRIUS merger has been in talks for more than a year. Where can i get updates on where FCC stands on the merger?

  1. Albert Fish,

I bet you want the gov to break up Greyhound and Amtrak huh?  Because if you believe XM/Sirius has no competition from HD Radio, regular radio, iPod, and hard drives in radios, then you believe Greyhound and Amtrak don't compete with cars, plains, and of course each other.

So if they don't let XM/Sirius merge they better break up Greyhound and Amtrak too.  Then when all 4 companies go out of business watch the prices on radio/HD radio (commercials), ipods, airline tickets, and cars go up up up.

Players in nitch markets never make it unless they are the last ones standing.  In the end there will only be one SDAR so get used to it.

The FCC board members should be fired for wasting tax payers money and for being completely incompetent.  It's inexcusable to take this amount of time on any merger.  I don't care which way the vote but the amount of time they have wasted on this is just retarded.  Not to mention the've hosed up digital switch over that was supposed to be done 2 years ago.  Great job FCC!!!

  2. I hope they don't approve the merger.  Every time there is a major merger prices go up because competition goes down.  Also I don't want Mel Karmazin running XM.  The f*cker put a gag order on Opie and Anthony back when they and Stern were working for the same company.  I hope the FCC does the right thing and promotes competition and free markets, but I fear that they're sh*td*cks who will approve the merger to increase stock value.
