XP user account help

Erm, I'm sharing a laptop with my mother. I just decided to create my own user account. But I find that whatever I do in my personal account, it also changes in my mother's account. Example: I delete a file that doesn't belong to me on my account, and on my mother's it also disappears.

What can I do to stop this? I want my own account and be able to add and delete files without affecting my mother's account. Help me please.

  1. Ok I think u misunderstood in some part creating account doesn't mean u R SEPARATE in PC Files and Folders They all share for all user like library and the books that are in it,if you took a book it will disappear for other users. it just different for:SOFTWARES,COOKIE SETTING(like on-line Info on browser), HAVE YOUR OWN BACKGROUND,AND DISPLAY SETTING AND SO ON.other wise you have same source like Drive C,D,E,F(What ever) u 2 have access to that sources unless u store your PERSONAL DATA IN YOUR OWN PRIVATE DIRECTORIES, You can find them in this address:(here is example for u and ur Mom's PRIVATE account)

    C:\Users\Teddy

    C:\Users\mom

you can set an access permission for that accounts later, and EVERY DATA IN THIS DIRECTORY IS ACCESIBLE ONLY BY OWNER. anyway if u need more security for data on hole intire of your PC go and Install Vista Proffesional.

  2. You should have a "My Documents" folder for the new account and a "Shared Documents" folder. The My Documents folder should be for that account only. Changes made in the shareddocuments folder will be reflected in both accounts....  Could this be the problem?

  3. What U do in one account on the same PC, WILL always effect the other..one way to get around this...get another PC
