XVII Pan Am Badminton Championships: Christin Tsai claims Women’s Singles title to steal limelight
Canada’s emerging player Christin Tsai proved her elevated craft on court as she played tremendous badminton and managed to steal the limelight by winning the Women’s Singles title at the XVII Pan Am Badminton Championships Individual Event on Sunday, October
14, in Peru.
In the final encounter of the championships, Christin showed her supremacy on court by playing flawless badminton and overpowered USA’s Jamie Subandhi in straight games with a decent margin.
It was a smooth ride for the talented Christin, who was the fourth seeded player in the tournament, as she remained unbeatable in the whole event and she did not lose even a single game all the way to grab the title in an inspiring fashion.
Canadian shuttler continued her striking run on court as she played with tremendous precision in the final contest and remained successful in crushing her challenger in straight sets by working for just 35 minutes on court.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Jamie failed to stretch her winning streak on court as she could not control the pace of rallies in the ending points and eventually went down against her higher ranked Canadian challenger in straight sets.
In the first set, it was Christin who delivered a great performance on court by putting up staggering show of top quality badminton and remained in commanding position until the end of first half.
After the mid-game interval, Jamie also put up good show as she increased her speed but missed many easy chances of earning points and remained struggling behind her rival on score board.
On the other hand, Christin did not lose her focus and she maintained the gap all the way to end up the first set with a convincing score of 21-16.
In the following set, Jamie also played wonderful game as she executed powerful strokes in all areas and stayed close to Christin until the one-minute break.
However, the higher ranked Canadian shuttler controlled the pace of rallies when it mattered most and won the second game with a tight difference of 21-19.
The impressive Christin emerged as the title winner as she defeated Jamie in the final battle with a reasonable margin of 21-16 and 21-19.
