XVII Peru International 2012: Camilla Garcia tames Camila Duany in Women’s Singles qualifying round
Peru’s Camilla Garcia continued her impressive performance as she penetrated into Women’s Singles semi-final after taming her team-mate Camila Duany in qualifying round of XVII Peru International 2012 on Wednesday, April 11, in Peru.
Garcia, who has been playing tremendous badminton in all matches in the tournament, continued her elevated show and thrashed Duany in an emphatic fashion.
The in-form Garcia did not show any respect to her compatriot in the court and managed to bag the contest in two games while working for just 31 minutes.
On the other hand, Duany could not show her impressive skills as she failed to play her normal game against Garcia and crashed out without winning any set in her last qualifying-round clash.
In the starting points of first set, both ladies entertained their home fans by executing attacking shots. They remained positive in the court and also did not miss any chance to take points.
They progressed equally on the score board and remained close until the mid-game interval in the first set.
After the interval, Duany became quicker in the rear-court area but failed to break the flow of her rival who was playing on a different level.
In the meanwhile, Garcia remained focused and relaxed in the court as she did not execute hasty shots and won the opening game in an authoritative manner with a 21-16 score on the board.
In the second set, Duany again played better badminton in stating points but failed to create pressure on her in-form compatriot who also showed aggression in the court.
Both ladies remained on track until the one-minute break and no one could establish a comfortable lead.
However, Garcia elevated her play in the concluding part of second set by executing powerful smashes and accurate drives.
Garcia did not lose her focus at any stage in the concluding phase and remained in full control of the pace. She spared no chance for her country-mate to fight back in the ending points and bagged the game with a margin of 21-16.
The talented Garcia won this entertaining contest in straight sets with a decent 21-16 and 21-16 score on the board.
