XVII Peru International 2012: Chiara Carranza beats Micaela Rivero to secure berth in main round
Chiara Carranza, an emerging shuttler from Peru, put up superb show and secured her berth in Women’s Singles main round after beating her compatriot Micaela Rivero in qualifying round contest at XVII Peru International 2012 on Wednesday, April 11, in Peru.
Chiara played remarkable badminton in the whole contest against her team-mate and managed to end the fight in straight games without losing ant set.
The in-form Chiara worked for just 27 minutes in the court and powered her way into main round of the Peru International.
On the other hand, Micaela could not stop the attacking play of her opponent in the whole encounter and lost the match in two games.
In the first game, both ladies showed impressive spirit as they played fast and aggressive badminton and remained close on the board in the opening rallies.
However, it was Chiara who showed an impressive play and managed to build a reasonable lead against her team-mate until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Micaela changed her strategy but failed to take any advantage as her rival was fully focused in the court.
Chiara did not show any sign of dropping down the pace of rallies and managed to win the opening set with a four-point advantage by a 21-17 score on the board.
In the second set, Chiara was again in control as she was quicker in creating room and earning points by executing strokes in the right areas.
In the meanwhile, Micaela tried to employ attacking shots but failed to break the defence of her opponent and remained trailing behind on the board.
Chiara was in commanding position until the mid-game interval in the second game.
After the break, Micaela tried to dominate the pace by taking the bird early at net but failed to create pressure on her opponent who was quicker in all areas of the court.
Chiara remained on track without dropping her speed at any moment and took the second set with a margin of 21-15.
The in-form Chiara won the qualifying-round encounter in 27 minutes with a 21-17 and 21-15 score on the board.
