XVII Peru International: Osleni Guerrero stuns Sattawat Pongnairat in Men’s Singles semi-final
Cuba’s Osleni Guerrero put up stunning show of elevated badminton when he outplayed Sattawat Pongnairat of USA in Men’s Singles semi-final of XVII Peru International 2012 in Peru, on Saturday, April 14.
The un-seeded Osleni, who was underdog in the semi-final contest, showed an inspiring performance as he crushed Sattawat without showing even a slight respect.
The Cuban did not drop his speed at any stage in the entire competition and ended it in just 33 minutes with a comprehensive score on the board.
In the opening set, Sattawat started his campaign in an interesting fashion as he kept the pace high while taking the bird quite early in all areas.
He was in full control and remained successful in establishing tremendous lead until the break.
In the meanwhile, Sattawat could not live up to expectations as he failed to produce better form against the spirited Osleni and remained unable to cope up with the pace of rallies.
After the break, the Cuban shuttler continued his killing performance in the game without showing any sign of respect for his opponent in the court and maintained his commanding position in the ending half.
The USA shuttler could not live up to expectations and lost the opening set without creating any impact.
Osleni was on course and he did not lose his focus at any stage and ended the set with a margin of 21-11.
In the second game, Osleni did now let his opponent to dominate the rallies in the opening points and also maintained his upper hand on Sattawat without facing much resistance.
On the other hand, Sattawat tried to accelerate his speed and also remained struggling in placing his strokes in right areas.
Until the one-minute interval, the Osleni was in quite comfortable position as he took an impressive lead on the board.
After the break, Osleni maintained his confident play in the court as he did not lose his speed and managed to win the second game with a sensational score of 21-11.
Osleni ended the second set of this semi-final battle in only 33 minutes with a tremendous 21-11 and 21-11 score on the board.
