XXI Pan Am Junior 2012: Monyata Riviera hammers Paula Mingot in Women’s Singles clash
Barbados’ Monyata Riviera continued her elevated performance as she put up tremendous show of aggressive badminton in Women’s Singles clash against Paula Mingot of Argentina and hammered her in a dominating way at the XXI Pan Am Junior 2012 on Tuesday, July
24, in Canada.
The in-form Monyata, who remained in impressive form throughout the event, showed her class again as she put up wonderful performance against Paula and ended up the fight in a completely one-sided fashion.
The aggressive Monyata played at her best speed and also did not lose her focus in opening set and won it easily. She was quite composed in the following game and finished it off in a crushing way to end up the battle in straight games with a lopsided margin.
In the meanwhile, Paula was completely unable to put up strong show as she found herself helpless against the power play of her in-form challenger and bowed down to her without putting up strong show at any stage in the entire competition.
Monyata played attacking badminton while controlling the pace of rallies from the opening points of first set and kept her rival under pressure by setting up a huge lead on score board until the end of first half.
After the one-minute interval, Monyata did not show any respect to her rival as she continued her attacking run on court and did not commit errors at any stage.
The impressive Monyata sailed smoothly in opening set and bagged it with a stunning 21-8 difference on score board.
In the following set, Monyata showed her class again as she played to her maximum potential and remained successful in setting up a remarkable lead without facing any interruption from her confused opponent.
After the mid-game break in the second set, Monyata continued putting up a superb show of her lofty skills on court without facing any trouble.
The spirited Monyata remained on track in the whole concluding part of second game and remained successful in ending it up with a superb margin of 21-4.
Monyata emerged as the winner against Paula in straight sets with an incredible 21-8 and 21-4 score on the board.
