The Spanish playmaker has stressed that the turmoil surrounding the Azzurri has only made them even more alert; insisted that La Roja are ready for any tactical system fielded by the opposition.

The two nations are set to lock horns with each other in their first match of the Euro 2012 on Sunday.
Alonso acknowledged that the Azzurri are surrounded with injuries and scandals, but maintained that their history stands evidence to the fact that they become even more ferocious in the face of adversity.

Cesare Prandelli has tried many different formations in the warm-up matches, and their failure suggests that the tactician is likely to shift to Juventus’ 3-5-2 system.
Alonso stated that they are studying all kinds of formations that the Azzurri chief could use in the upcoming match against Spain, but maintained that nothing will make Spain change the way they play their game.
The Roja midfielder clarified that the idea is not to get obsessed with the opposition’s tactical options, but to know as much as you can about them so as to minimize the chances of getting surprised on the matchday.
“That won’t make us change the way we play, though. It’s just about being intelligent and trying to anticipate the moves of our opponents.”  Xabi Alonso added.
