  1. I took Xanax years ago for depression and anxiety and it did a good job on me- it knocked me out.

Everyone is different with medication. For anxiety at the moment I am taking Aropax which seems to work on me really well.

How long have you been taking it? Maybe your dose needs to be adjusted, or you might need to go on something else. Go and speak to your doctor..

  2. Every body is different. Xanax might not be the right med for you. How long have you been taking them? My psych has told me that some/most meds can take up to 4-6weeks to get their full effect... unfortunately for us it means wait wait wait to see if it even does any good after that period of time.

If you dont feel right and you think something else could be better, consult the doc who prescribed these. They might be able to have a few more tricks up their sleeve. Just because one doesnt work, doesnt mean they all dont (until you've tried a bazillion like myself, hehe).

    All the best.

  3. Xanax is a relatively short acting anxiety reliever, which can help people through a crisis, but it is not a long term answer as it is highly addictive and the dose needs escalate fairly rapidly.

Sometimes anxiety is generated by an underlying depression, in which case you may need an antidepressant insead of an anxiety reliever. Regular revue with your doctor is necessary, and if your doctor seems disinterested or to not have much idea, get a second opinion elsewhere.
