football because he thought he is growing old and has started making mistakes.

He started thinking about retirement during the FIFA World Cup 2010. The Spanish national team won the title and he realized that maybe he would quit afterwards. However, Del Bosque somehow kept his hopes alive in the Spanish team.
The footballing phenomenon kept playing for his national side and later joined them for the Euro 2010.
